Biography

Clint Rusk is head of the Animal Science Department at Oklahoma State University. Clint and his wife, Madeleine, are the proud parents of two children, Shane(26) and Ashley(24).

Clint grew up on his family's Hereford and Angus ranch near Sun City, Kansas. After graduation as valedictorian of his high school class, Clint attended Colby Community College, where he was presidential Scholar and a member of the National Champion Livestock Judging Team. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kansas State University in 1980.

After graduation, Clint returned to his family's ranch for five years. Clint and his family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to manage the purebred cattle unit at Colorado State University. In 1987, he also accepted the duty of coaching CSU's livestock judging team. Clint completed his M.S. degree in 1992 and his Ph.D. in male reproductive physiology in 1997.

Clint coached 10 livestock judging teams at Colorado State University. His teams were Reserve National Champions in 1987,1991,1993 and 1995. During his tenure, the team won the National Western Stock Show and the Arizona National Livestock Show four years in a row. Clint has coached teams in 66 collegiate contests. His teams placed in the top five overall 79% of the time and the top three in oral reasons 80% of the time. For a string of 36 consecutive contests, the CSU teams under Clint's guidance, placed sixth or higher. His ten teams were always in the top six at the National Contest in Louisville, Kentucky. Clint helped coach CSU's National Champion Meat Animal Evaluation Team in 1996, along with Dr. Duane Wulf. Clint's former students have gone on to coach livestock judging teams for Colorado State University, the University of Nebraska, the University of Minnesota, New Mexico Sate University, Oregon State University, Texas Tech University, and the University of Wyoming. Clint was named "Coach of the Year" by the Intercollegiate Coaches' Association in 1991 and 1992.

Clint has been judging cattle, sheep, and swine at county, state and national shows for the past thirty-three years. He has been invited to judge at: Aksarben, the American Royal, the Arizona National, the Canadian Royal Winter Fair, the Dixie National, the Eastern National, the Fort Worth Stock Show, the Houston Livestock Show, the Keystone International, the National Western Stock Show, the North American Livestock Show, the Pennsylvania Farm Show and the World Beef Expo. Clint has also judged cattle or sheep ap the following state fairs: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho,(Western), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington(Central, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
