Biography

Doug Pierce received his B.S. and M.S. from Texas A&M University where he was on the livestock judging team. From 1986-1991, he was the Washington County 4-H Extension Agent. He returned to A&M from 1991-1992 to obtain his Ph.D. Since 1992 he has worked at Blinn College where he is the division chair in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. In 2002, he was the Blinn College Teaching Excellence Award recipient. He is a partner with his brother, David, in Pierce Cattle Co., where they raise American-cross show steers. they have produced several breed champions at the major shows. Doug has judged breeding cattle at every major show in the state of Texas. He has also judged numerous TCCA and county fair steer and heifer shows. He has judged internationally and considers his biggest honor as judging the 2007 International Brahman Show in Houston. Doug and his wife, Libby, live in Brenham, Texas. He has a great passion for teaching and making youth excited about the agriculture industry and career opportunities in agriculture.
