BiographyJirl Buck grew up showing steers and heifers in 4-H and FFA, and his family raised Limousin cattle. After high school he attended Murray Statae College and the Okalhoma Statae University. During college, he worked for several top cattle producers. The experience motivated him to begin buying and selling club calfes.
In 1989, he put together an elite set of Maine-Anjou females which became the cornerstone of the program. Jirl, his wife Brenda, and daugher, Bailey, own and operate Buck Cattle Company in south central Oklahoma just outside of Madill. Although the ranch is primarily a registered Maine-Anjou and Maine-Tainer cattle operation, he has recently assembled a select group of registered Herefords as well. Jirl also partners with D&H Cattle Co. on several bucking bulls and females. For the last tow decades, he has spent most weekends and holidays at junior livestock shows helping his daughter, Bailey, and his customers exhibit their animals. He believes in the value of the junior livestock program and always enjoys the opportunity to work with young people.
He has judged several steer and heifer shows across the United States including: N,.A.I.L.E., Colorado State Fair, American Royal, Illinois State Fair, Junior National Hereford Expo, Kentucky Beef Expo, Michigan Beef Expo, and the Belt Buckle Bonanza in 2009.
