Adam Lira was born and raised in Manvel, Texas. Adam graduated form Sam Houston State University in 2000 with a bachelors' degree in Animal Science and a minor in Secondary Education. During his years at Sam Houston State, he was one of the founders of the Meat Goat Show team and a member of the Block and Bridle club. In May of 2000 he started his teaching career. He taught Agriculture education at Hargrave High School, and in 2001 he moved to Splendora High School.

He has been involved with agriculture all his life; he grew up on a small cattle operation, where his father and grandfather raised pureblood Beefmasters. Adam commented that he has been involved in livestock shows since he was nine, and he has loved every minute of it.

He has served as a 4-H leader, FFA Advisor, and mentor to many young exhibitors. He has judged numerous lamb and goat shows in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Adam and his father started raising club lambs in 1994; their flock has grown to about 100 head of blackface and Southdowns. "I consider it a great honor to be asked to judge the goat showmanship at the 2005 Belt Buckle Bonanza, and I look forward to working with the best kids in Texas."
